Body In Motion has become a staple in my weekly routine for a good reason.  The first class I came alone and felt as awkward as I looked (kind of a goofy chic).  I made some jokes and met some other newbies.  Mostly, I was amazed at how much strength some of these ladies rock!  Some of the great things I have loved about pole from day one.  There&#8217;s always something new to learn.  There&#8217;s always someone there to challenge you and celebrate your accomplishments.  Everyone is capable of different things, what one person may nail on the first try, may take another a few months.  The instructor&#8217;s get to know your strengths and weaknesses (this is how they make you better).  The best thing about pole is that you make it your own.  It&#8217;s a place for you to find your inner circus, gymnast, yogi, sexy, booty bounce goddess.  I currently am working on all of the above.  I&#8217;ve had the opportunity to meet diverse women that are smart, kind, patient and they still laugh at my jokes.  I like that I am constantly impressed by what our bodies can do.  BIM pairs women with the motivation with other women who will continue to inspire one another.</p>

I immediately fell in love with it because it was so fun and you could also feel the great work out. My body feels so great after class. The studio has a an awesome ambiance and this is what makes me return to the studio. Another reason why I keep going is because of the encouraging teachers. So many workout places now are very intimidating because it feels like you are competing with others, but at Body In Motion it&#8217;s a support group. Every time you achieve a new move the teacher and your classmates are there to congratulate you! I recommend this studio to anyone who is open to a different and fun type of exercise.</p>

Although I found pole intriguing, I admit I was nervous when I first started. I had no idea what I was getting myself into! That fear went away when I arrived for my first class and I have been a member ever since. When I come to class, I feel like I am hanging with friends and not working out. It is really that much fun. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be a sex kitten to do pole fitness. All you really need is an open mind and a willingness to learn. The best way to describe this type of exercise is gymnastics except your beam is horizontal. And, it spins. It is amazing to see your strength increase and body transform just from having a good time. The great thing about this place is that you can really be yourself and do your own thing. You will have no idea that I am shy but it is because everyone does a great job of making you feel like family. The instructors will work with you one on one to find your strengths and weaknesses to make you better. It’s good to know that there are people to catch you when you fall… literally. Who knew that working out could be so entertaining? Now, I don’t find it so weird to talk about my day while hanging upside down. You will be amazed at what your body can do. I promise that attending one of the classes will be one of the best decisions you will ever make in your journey to a better and healthier you. I know it was for me.</p>

It was my passion! As an adult, I found it to be a Big stress reliever &#038; the best escape from any negativity. </p>
<p>After Katrina, I joined a dance class in TX to deal with the relocation, but I recently relocated back to New Orleans. My sister told me about a party she heard about that included pole &#038; I was instantly curious. </p>
<p>One day after a rough day at work &#038; a stressful evening at home, I showered, put on my pj&#8217;s &#038; tried to watch TV but I was beyond irritated so I took a drive. I ended up searching for the &#8220;party place&#8221; my sister told me about. When I got there, I was WARMLY WELCOMED by Mrs. Shannon at the desk and instantly forgot why I was so irritated. I inquired about the parties &#038; the classes I&#8217;d just learned about &#038; she insisted I stay for the chair class which was about to start. </p>
<p>I told her I was in my pj&#8217;s &#038; she said &#8220;u look fine&#8221;. I stayed for class, &#038; felt so comfortable &#038; welcomed &#038; divafied lol. I dropped in a few more times &#038; have been a dedicated MEMBER ever since. </p>
<p>Body In Motion has not only become the BEST Place to release my stress, I&#8217;ve gained genuine relationships with some of the most remarkable women I&#8217;ve ever met. I never felt out of place or embarrassed because they are extremely patient, kind, pleasant &#038; helpful instructors &#038; they&#8217;ve remained the same since my day one&#8230;Last Year <img src='http://www.bimfitness.com/site/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

I was seeking a new form of exercise that I hadn’t tried before and I needed to improve my arm strength for rock climbing. Not only can I easily do pull-ups now but I also lost 22lbs! This is the first time in my life that I can wear a size 4!</p>
<p>I immediately loved pole the first time I tried it. It has now become a part of my life and weekly workout. When I was younger, I did gymnastics but there is no such thing as a gymnastics class for adults around here. I like to think of pole fitness as a good alternative. It’s adult gymnastics.</p>
<p>Before pole fitness, I was a horrible dancer with no rhythm but now I know how to move and I no longer feel embarrassed to dance in public thanks to all the wonderful teachers at B.I.M. I have learned rhythm, lost weight, and gained stomach and arm muscles. Pole is the most fun form of exercise that I have tried.  I highly recommend pole to anyone who would like to lose weight and feel sexy while doing it.</p>

With the help of my friends and instructors at the studio I&#8217;ve been able to achieve moves I never dreamed possible.</p>
<p>Pole fitness has become a regular part of my fitness regimen. I&#8217;ve developed more upper body strength than I&#8217;ve ever had in the past. My flexibility has improved, and I find I&#8217;ve become much more comfortable with my body.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m excited to be part of the B.I.M family! Not only do they offer a great workout, but they give all of their members a positive feeling. I leave every class feeling like a sexy and confident woman.</p>

Shortly after this larger than life recitation, Thais crossed paths with Susan Taylor once again and was honorably included in several of Essence Music Festival’s Empowerment Seminars.</p>
<p>She can be found on any given day creating new columns, writing poetry, painting for <a href="http://www.EnticingObjects.com" target="_blank">EnticingObjects.com</a>  or reading great books / magazines. Always finding fun ways to interact find Thai on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/thais.mills" target="_blank">Facebook</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/lipserviceink" target="_blank">Twitter</a>  daily. She lives in Houston and New Orleans with her trusted 9 yr old Miniature Schnauzer (who also writes go figure), <a href="http://www.myspace.com/misterlyrikz" target="_blank">Mister Lyrikz</a>. </p>

Who would have thought I could do this!! Hi, my name is Fire. Pole Fitness has been a major part of my fitness regimen for 8 months. I first purchased a coupon from Living Social to try out pole fitness. Upon arriving at Body In Motion for the first time, I was greeted by the owner &#8211; Shannon and the other instructors by my name. It was such a comforting feeling. </p>
<p>From that point forward, the girls have treated me like family. Not only the instructors, but the friends I have made at Body In Motion courage me to improve what I have learned and never to give up.</p>
<p>Over the months, I have gained a tremendous amount of muscle strength. My body has transformed from fat to muscle. It is amazing how pole fitness alone can tone your body. I believe no matter your age or body make –up, pole fitness it definitely for anyone. </p>

I tried pole fitness after straining my hamstring. I couldn&#8217;t do anything that required lower body strength. I spoke with a friend who was also an instructor and advanced student at Body in Motion.  She suggested Body in Motion and a month later I signed up for a punch card.</p>
<p>I was very skeptical about pole fitness initially. I wondered whether it was really a workout and whether I would benefit from participating.  After my first class, I felt like I had been through a strenuous upper body workout and looked like I had been in a train wreck.  Once I realized the level of core and upper body strength required to do certain moves I got hooked!</p>
<p>The instructors at Body in Motion are always willing help me increase my skill level.  They are all very supportive and encouraging.  I&#8217;m naturally competitive so I now find myself aspiring to work on more difficult routines.  I&#8217;ve reached a point where my leg strength allows me to progress much easier into advanced moves.  Even though my hamstring is well, I can&#8217;t imagine going back to my normal fitness routine.  Now when people ask about my regimen I make sure to tell them that I run, lift weights and do pole fitness.</p>

I have been a member of B.I.M. for 6 months.   I am a runner and have spent countless hours on the trail and in the gym lifting weights but prior to joining the B.I.M. family, I found that I had reached a plateau.   I have tried many fitness classes but never dreamed that pole fitness would become part of my cross training and entered my first class thinking it would be nothing more than a good time that I would do once or twice, get a giggle out of it, and then walk away.   However, I was wrong, I had never experienced such a full-body workout before and became immediately addicted.   Pole fitness provides me the toning and core strengthening that I was not finding in any other fitness routine. Since starting pole fitness I have gain strength and toning beyond what I believe was possible.  Additionally, I have lost inches and lost time off of my minutes per mile due to the core workout of pole.   I describe pole fitness as the ultimate full-body workout because it incorporates the disciplines of gymnastics, Pilates, ballet, and yoga.   Unlike the gym environment, B.I.M. does not have any “divas” and the members do not compete against each other.  Everyone is very accepting and you have members of all fitness levels working side-by-side, helping each other, and genuinely excited with one another’s achievements. B.I.M. has shown me that size and age do not matter and B.I.M. has taught me to be comfortable in my own skin.   I thank my instructors and class members for that gift. Additionally,  I think it is important to mention that Shannon takes the time to know her members.  The first time she addressed me by name I was so impressed.  Few business owners make such an effort,  but despite the number of people she may have coming through her door, we are all important and special enough to her that she takes the time to know each one.   Thank you Shannon, my instructors, and class mates for this wonderful chapter in my life and I am so glad I found each of you. </p>
